Boobs4Food SF is excited to announce that our August volunteer event, Saturday 8/21/2010 from 12-4pm, will be supporting the SF Street Food Festival! This food festival is hosted by La Cocina, a non-profit organization and incubator kitchen that provides affordable commercial kitchen space and technical assistance to low-income and immigrant entrepreneurs who are launching and growing food businesses. Proceeds will support the efforts of La Cocina and this event will promote street food by offering affordable and delicious foods made by food entrepreneurs who reflect our diverse community.

For the actual day of the event, SF Street Food Festival is expecting over 25,000 people to attend and need all hands on board! Aside from working for a fantastic and delicious cause, they guarantee volunteers a great time, great food and, best of all, working with a group of amazing people. Oh, and you’ll also get to rock a free “I Cart Street Food” t-shirt!

Though our slot time is 12-4pm (check-in begins at 11:30am), please arrive early to find parking or to walk over via public transportation. Public transportation is highly recommended! Various responsibilities will include directing patrons, passing out flyers, helping vendors, etc.

Parking will be extremely limited on the day of the event. We strongly recommend that you use publi c transportation. BART stop at Mission & 24th St. or park your bike at bike valet in Garfield Park. If you must drive, park at Glen Park Station then BART one station to Mission
& 24th St.

Participate in the SF Street Food Photo Contest!

When you arrive, check-in at the Volunteer Check-in located outside at the Club House in Garfield Park. The Volunteer Manager will check you in (say you’re with Boobs4Food), confirm your duties, and issue any necessary materials. After you check-in, find Jessica and Liberty as Team Boobs4Food will be gathering on the side. Jessica and Liberty will be wearing black Boobs4Food tees. The organizers will be provide you with a tee shirt and tickets for fee food as a thank you for your support. Have fun and thank you again!

Team Boobs4Food woke up bright & early Saturday  morning (6am!) August 22, 2009, to lend a hand at the 1st Annual SF Street Food Festival that took place on Folsom b/t 25th & 26th in the Mission.

Kudos to Caleb Jason & Matt for planning an AWESOME street fair. The booths looked amazing, the vendors on point & all of the volunteers were so rad. From design to execution, we agree the La Cocina team did a fantastic job for SF’s first street food festival ever. And can we say we LOVE the “I *cart* Street Food” t-shirts? Boobs4Food can’t wait to volunteer again next year!

We got to be unofficial “barbacks” for Duggan and his team (i.e. B-Love, Pete, Pablo, Steve, Jason, Shiny Pants Man Enrique & Andy the Booze Monkey) at the Skyy sponsored/Cantina liquor garden. Hope everyone got to try out the Old Chub beer & Horchata.

Special thanks to Mel, Galvin & Anthony of DEEP: Modern Izakaya for being such troopers (and as crazy as us for waking up at 6am on a Saturday morn), lending their muscles in volunteering this morning as well.
