September is Hunger Action Month and we’re taking action to fight hunger by partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank of San Mateo County for our September B4F event! We’ll be volunteering at the Peninsula Distribution Center for Second Harvest and we’re excited to invite you in on the fun to join us on Saturday, September 18th from 9am to Noon, as we give back to our local Bay Area communities.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties has been providing services to the community since 1974. They are the single largest nonprofit provider of food to low-income households in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties and they are the FIFTH LARGEST food bank in the country. On average, they serve over 200K patrons a month with a majority of people they serve being seniors and low-income families with children.
For this event, we’ll be in charge of sorting through donated non-perishable items. The minimum age to volunteer at this Food Bank is 14 years of age.
Dress code is casual and comfortable – no shorts, no tank tops. Closed toe shoes and long pants are required. We’ll have a volunteer form for all attendees to fill out closer to the date.
There isn’t much flexibility on late arrivals to this particular organization so if you are interested in coming, it is crucial you arrive on time and if you can’t make it, to please give us 7 day advanced notice if possible as our group size cannot exceed 20.
We will provided further information for attendees the week leading up to the 18th! We look forward to seeing you!
