Helping Hands at Project Open Hand
Boobs4Food SF will be volunteering at Project Open Hand in San Francisco Saturday, November 20th from 11:00am – 4:00pm. We hope you can join us for a few rewarding hours providing “meals with love” to the clients of this amazing program especially during the season of giving and when times are especially tough. Common duties include helping out in the kitchen, grocery center, packing food, etc.
Since 1985, Project Open Hand has been providing “meals with love” to people living with serious illnesses and to seniors in San Francisco and Alameda County.
Project Open Hand provides food and nourishment to improve the quality of life of the men, women and children it serves. Project Open Hand programs include: meal, grocery and nutrition information, education and referral for people with symptomatic HIV and AIDS; congregate lunch and nutrition education for people over 60 years of age; and meal service for homebound critically ill people under the age of 60.
Please wear closed toe shoes, dress comfortably and cozy as there might be light lifting. We also recommend leaving your valuables at home or in your car. A light lunch is served during our shift.
Street parking is available along Polk, please read all signs carefully to avoid parking tickets. We recommend parking at AMC 1000 and get your parking ticket validated in the movie theater lobby before returning to your car.
Spaces are limited, please sign up soon. However you RSVP with us, we will contact you directly to inform on final confirmation as tracking Facebook RSVPs can be challenging as many of you know. Please stay to grub with us afterwards as we’ll pick somewhere fabulous to eat around Larkin (i.e. Lers Ros Thai, Turtle Tower, etc.)
